So. What is Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number. This is a sequel to the shot Indie project, which was famous for Saundrek, design, gameplay and, like, deep meaning. This crazy electronics would never have attracted me from outside. This is the magic of the atmosphere. The fact is that all the sounds that sound in the game are perfectly fit on the gameplay. Measured bass makes you adapt to their rhythm and kill after each sound strike. But it kills you at the same time. You can’t look for a rhythm in this game. This instantly distracts from the search for another lump of hatred, which is waiting for your brain to relax in the rhythm of the dance of death.
Let’s start with the simplest. The camera in the game is exactly over the hero (just like in the old woman GTA). Moving occurs by means of keys on the keyboard, but you can spin around its axis only thanks to a different manipulator (where the mouse cursor is directed – the character’s stern look). Most of the options for the development of events implies that if you have empty hands, then you just stun the enemy and it will have to be finished with pressing on Space. Of course, there are masks that make fists with deadly weapons, but this is an exception to the rules. The same applies to throwing cold weapons – in most cases, in most cases (although some knives are perfectly stuck into your heads), but masks to help you if you want to go through the level without shooting, but not lose the grip in the destruction of enemies at a distance. And you can also stun the enemy with the door (it is also very useful and can save life).
Now let’s talk about the murders. Most of the enemies die from the first injury, but there are copies that can survive after the first bullet. Grimils, for example, live and serve as a shield of bullets for associates for a few more seconds after injury (but against a short distance and they can not contrast anything), and the ninja and psychos are evading. With cold weapons, everything is complicated too. You should not beat a bat or throw it if your enemy is not an ordinary infantry or there is no special mask for you, because this is useless.
Our characters also do not shine with unnecessary health. You can survive one or two hits from a pistol or machine gun, but I could not find a stable recipe for such a chance to find such a chance. In hand -to -hand death is always death. No half -wings. Only hardcore!

3. Confederate. Wears creepy snake masks. It is one of the masks that teaches you to use kung fu (below-more);
4. The writer is a pacifist (below-more), but if you overdo it with finishing, then the screen becomes blood-red and the hero begins to crush the enemy’s skull;
5. A detachment of the military who fight on Hawaii with Soviet soldiers. We play for one of them (later he will become a friendly seller from the first part, and his silent partner – Jacket). Before the start of each of their mission, we choose weapons: automatic, shotgun, machine gun, sniper rifle or flamethrower. You can’t choose an enemy weapon, but you can reload your own if the store is over and use stationary boxes with cartridges, if everything ends at all. When you press the RMB, the soldier changes weapons from the firearm to the cold and back;
6. Rat. The old familiar killer, who wanted to kill the GG of the first part, but missed, and he obviously spared him in a police station later. Has nothing;
7. The son of the head of the mafia. It is his father who kills the hero of the first part in the final of the original. Uses various gifts of his father, including an amulet that gives the right to use two UZI, like a bear, and glasses complete with a samurai sword;

Whether it is changing the gameplay, which had previously been diverse? Yes. Because they removed unnecessary things, such as a mask to search for previously hidden things or Mole masks, which simply added a blood-red filter and mercilessly limited the review. And added a “mask”, which, for example, allows you to walk simultaneously with two machine guns (hands with them can be laid down 180 degrees). Or such an example: the character begins to kill Kung Fu’s techniques, and when you press the RMB, it completely takes out nunchaki, accelerates and waves them without stopping them. So yes. There are more unique things. And it pleases. And yes. Not all "characters" wear masks. The fact is that there are three "characters" who do not have variability at the beginning of the mission. Two of them have no difference at all, except for the plot. But the third brings some variety. The fact is that he is a pacifist (it beats only cold, and if you choose a firearm, discharges it). Yes. Enemies do not die if you do not start to finish them. They just fall and begin to writhe in pain. And this really fuel curiosity and makes you play further-what if something else came up with? And yes. Until the final, the developers do not disclose all cards. There is always something new. Even after passing, when the Hard Mode opens (there are more enemies, the sight does not work, the villains see further, and strong reptiles are more common, plus the world is also turned upside down. Most often in the game we had to go conditionally up the screen. Now we are going down. This is a really funny find). Plus you can’t try out all the “masks” without the game. The fact is that the last task for each of the "characters" opens something new. But there are no more missions for him. For example, over the last level of one of the "characters" open a flamethrower. And you can try it only by rechebating one of its own levels. And not everyone will decide on this. Why? Let’s say … Some missions are damn long and complex. Pass them for the first time – cool. But then the question arises about the appropriateness of reproduction immediately, and not in six months. For "updates" – this is normal, for normal people – you need a respite.
But not with masks of one .. Weapon. Firearm and cold. Both that and then you can throw to stun most of the opponents. If you want to go through the game, using only one of the categories, then you have to upset you: this is almost unrealistic. The level designer should receive a bonus for his work, because everything is pretty well balanced. Sometimes you need to head up headlong forward, and sometimes to sit down and call on enemies to yourself by means of shooting (AI hears firing, the enemy runs under the sight, the enemy dies. Well, or manages to shoot/run past the sight/jump/survive a shot. And then you die. Cute, yes?). Only here are places where you can sit in security-one or two per location, which sometimes does not help.
Enemies do not always die from one hit/blow. Why? Yes, because even something new was added here. If earlier there were ordinary guys, healthy women (they die either after a time after the wound, or after a large portion of lead in the body. It’s just better not to climb into hand -to -hand. Only in special masks that give advantages for close combat) and dogs (weak, but fast), now new enemies have appeared: the leader (once in the whole game, but still), a psycho, a ninja and a big man with a machine gun. The leader, surrounding you, creates noise, attracting friends with bits, chains and shotgun. Psychos quickly run towards you, catch and begin to beat on the ground. Hand -to -hand combat and throwing all garbage with subsequent finishing work are perfectly working against them. It is useless to shoot them – evade, bastards. Ninja is advanced psycho. They run with huge katans and cut you to death with one blow. How to fight? No way. More precisely, if you have encountered him by chance – you are kapets. Shoot him to bend and put to the damn grandmother. If it is behind, then get ready to make an ambush. These guys can only be killed with cold weapons in their hands. But there is one but. It is necessary to beat at the moment when this bastard evades the bullet. Standing with a firearm in his hands on something cold, wait until the enemy comes up to the distance of the blow, shoot and grab the cold weapon. All. The enemy died, and you are delightful.
And they stayed Bosses. There are probably two of them, as in the first part. But now I would not compare the final boss from the first part and the final boss from the second. No. Who is cooler? Don’t know. Both are gorgeous in idea and implementation, but there are nit -picking to both. So friendship wins. And yes. The first bosses of both parts are almost a carbon copy from each other. Unless in the second part the battle is shorter.
I will not spoil – read boldly. In the first part, everything was spinning around a certain secret organization, which, hiding behind a real militarized organization, wanted to undermine the relationship either Russia and America, or the Russian and American mafia. Here we are told by the stories of people who in any way are in contact not with the organization, but with Jacket – a character of the first part. All stories turned out to be rich and pleasant. I would not say that there were no questions left after the finale, but only all this is secondary. The point is set, and it is beautiful in its simplicity. Plus, one cannot but notice that the game, although it lost the collective element (before it was necessary to look for letters at the level to open the real ending. I even rummaged a couple of levels in the sequel, I have not yet understood that they were not here. Cute, yes?) but added a really good element – optional conversations/details. You can always find a newspaper or a person who will give a couple of phrases before or after or after. They will either complement the character or the history of the world of the game. And all this will also open a chain of events that will lead to a secret ending. Anyway. The game has several secret unique actions that will lead to a pair of hidden scenes. One of them is the pure water diamond. Find a bar of broken heroes. It was something.
And now the most important part of the review. Cons. There were few pure representatives of the category, so I will add elements here that simultaneously delight and kill.
1. Huge locations where two dozen opponents run. Enemies even in the first part shot from abroad. And therefore, you constantly have to press Shift to evaluate the threat from the outside.
2. Music lulls the brain, so you begin to die due to entering the rhythm of the track.
3. Once (honestly! Once it was) I was killed by an enemy who was hiding under a score of glasses. This is not a trend, so calling a minus is difficult, but the sediment remains.
4. You can’t try everything in one passage. Well … this is a nit.
5. Rating a+. I understand that he will not give anything, but I feel sorry for the people who want to knock him out in every mission. You can’t stand still for its receipt. You have to constantly move and kill every second. And sometimes it is fraught with hundreds of meaningless deaths in one level.

8. Completely confused plot and similar characters. In order not to get confused, you need to keep records with dates and carefully look at all the details of the world around the world. This is a plus even, but in some places too confused.
9. Enemies sometimes go to each other. Okay, if one after another, this can be taken into account, but when you kill the enemy, he falls, in his place there is one more – this is a fat minus.
10. If you change something in the control settings, then be kind to go there every time when starting up to change again. Visually, the changed key will even be indicated there, but in fact it will not work.
11. Achievements for combo. Suppose you need to collect a combo from 10 murders and 15. And you killed 19. Then you will not give you anything. But if you kill exactly 10, then everything will work. Nonsense, I think. Although, maybe it was a bug that has already been fixed.
12. Ninja. I met them three or four times. Fortunately, everyone is on the same level. But two at once on the ode of the location. We will write off the complexity of their killing to the final of the game. But … this is an example of overstated complexity from scratch.

The game turned out at the same time atmospheric, protracting, intriguing and not without a taste of pain. I would not call her complex, hard, bloody, evil or provocative. Instead, I want to tie an epithet "harsh" to her. Beautiful word that is perfectly described by Hotline Miami. You want to love her, and she is pricking and causes pain. I did not know that I drowned until Steam gave me an achievement for 1’000 deaths. I hit me like a current. And it was not even the middle of the game.
